The Almost Daily Skeeter

"I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul."
- Jean Cocteau
On July 5, 1947 Larry Doby signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians baseball team, becoming the first African American player in the American League.  Skeeter’s prediction that Doby’s legacy would be as great as Jackie Robinson’s was as off the mark as the Seattle Mariner’s “five for none” trade which brought Érik Bédard to the team.  Skeeter hopes this long forgotten photograph will bring some recognition to Doby’s role in breaking baseball’s color barrier.
